The Storyteller’s Tale: The Hands Behind The Keyboard

I recently forced myself to put together a business/personal bio for my LinkedIn and Etsy platforms to help potential clients get to know the “hands behind the keyboard” – iScribe Creative and it’s owner: yours truly.

As is the case with most people, I hate writing about myself in a “biographical” sense. Give me someone else’s life story and I’ll tell it without hesitation. Ask me to write two words about myself and I shrivel into an awkward, illiterate mess.

Regardless, I bit the bullet and put my business and my clients first. So, if you’re looking to learn a little bit about me and why I do what I do. Here goes…

The Storyteller’s Tale: The Hands Behind The Keyboard

Are you looking to connect with your clients? Do you want to build a brand with a specific identity? Do you need a little “pizzazz” worked into your product marketing? Do you have a message to send but need someone to proof, edit and tweak the text? Are you simply looking for someone to help you tell the story of your business?

Read on, I think it might be time your story intertwined with mine…

The art of storytelling dates back to ancient civilisations, weaving its way in and out of factual history and fictional myths and legend. From the travelling bards and tale spinners of old to the songwriters, authors and copywriters of new, storytelling has evolved but some principles have stayed throughout the ages.

Relatability | Creativity | Passion | Audience Value

You can find a combination of these in every piece of impactful prose, no matter the era of its creation.

So, what has this got to do with me? And, more importantly, what has this got to do with your business?

Well, a business is nothing without its audience: clients, customers, consumers, viewers – whatever you choose to call them. As a copywriter (storyteller) my job is to help you traverse the divide between you and your audience. To build meaningful relationships. To help your audience relate to you, your business, your products and your story. To forge a lasting, meaningful relationship between your brand and the wider community through the power of the written word.

How do you want to engage, inform and connect with your clients?

An informative blog, engaging social posts, quirky website content, punny product descriptions, monthly newsletters – a combination of some or all of these? Or something completely different that’s never been done before? Count me in.

My professional career has swept me through a number of industries including (but not limited to) hospitality, sporting event entry management, retail, education, eco packaging and precious metals. It’s a bit of a jumble, I know, but I think that’s what has allowed me to become such a versatile writer. I’ve taken my love for reading and writing, gained experience and knowledge from a vast array of workplaces, roles and of course, people and finally figured out where my passion lies – writing sh*t for people who can’t write for sh*t (or who just need a little helping hand). Excuse the language, but it’s the best (and cheekiest) way to describe what I do 😉

I specialise in creative storytelling and persuasive copywriting which places me in the perfect position to service entrepreneurs with small businesses in innovative and “non-corporate” industries. In saying that, I’ve spent 5+ years working in customer-centric and marketing-based roles within corporate environments, so I don’t want to pigeonhole myself.

If you run a business, I want to help – small or large, mainstream or alternative – if you’re looking for a genuine, talented copywriter who cares about your business just as much as you do, reach out today!
